New Camera

Hi this is jerrysphotos I'm new to bloging, so bear with me. I want to talk about my new camera. I have always been a Nikon shooter, from about 1975 or so. When I went to digital, I bought a Fuji S2 Pro. I I was not to happy with Nikon had to offer and I saw a demo at Calumet SF and was very impressed with the quality of the print from the test shoot. I bought one. It was great in the studio but in the fieldit was good but not great.

Then as time passed I started looking at Canon. The full frame 5D look good.

It was a big move because all my lenses are Nikon.

So I went for the Canon 5D Body 24 to 70 2.8L lens and the 580EX flash. and off to Mexico I went.

I was there almost a month and 2500 pictures latter I felt very comfortable with my new camera. In the beginning it was confusing. In this (new to me) digital world everything is a learning curve.

I forgot I did buy a Nikon D200 and it was a very good camera but still not a great camera. I had it about a year before I got the Canon.

I think the thing I like best about the Canon lenses is that I shot 85 to 90 % of the photos at F 2.8 and they were very sharp.

I shoot a lot of children in Mexico. I have been going to the same village for over 20 years. I love there big coffee color eyes. If the eyes are sharp the image is sharp. At least to me.

The other thing is I found it to be easer and faster to do a custom color blance. I use a black, grey and white target for my color blance.

The one thing I did not like about canon is the flash does not have a PC outlet. I use my Pocket Wizard to fire my flashes. My Nikon flashes work fine, bucause they are on stands and I use them on manual then they are conpatable with the Canon.

I hope I did not bore and now I am going to see if I can get some photos from my trip on this page
